About Little Lantern Family Club

A lantern for every child who wonders where they belong

Little Lantern Family Club creates songs, books, games, articles, printable resources, classroom tools and family guides that help children understand kindness, respect, family diversity, privacy and belonging.

We believe children should not have to explain why their family matters.

They should simply feel that it does.

Child-safe. School-friendly. Family-centred. Built around kindness, dignity and belonging.

Section 02

Our mission

Little Lantern Family Club exists to help every child feel that their family, their story and their way of belonging have a place in the world.

We create warm, practical and inclusive resources for children, families, schools, libraries and community groups.

Through songs, books, games, kindness cards, classroom materials and family guides, we help adults open gentle conversations without putting children on the spot.

Our mission is simple:

  • To help children practise kindness.
  • To help families feel seen.
  • To help schools include difference safely.
  • To help libraries and community spaces welcome every child.
  • To help belonging become something children can feel, not just something adults talk about.

Section 03

Why Little Lantern exists

Many children grow up in families that do not always look like the families shown in books, songs, classrooms or playground conversations.

  • Some children have two mothers.
  • Some have two fathers.
  • Some live between two homes.
  • Some were born through surrogacy or donor conception.
  • Some were adopted or fostered.
  • Some live with grandparents.
  • Some have one parent.
  • Some have step-parents, half-siblings, chosen family, or a family story that is private and complex.

Some children do not want to explain.

Some children do not yet have the words.

Little Lantern Family Club was created for those moments.

  • Not to make children perform their difference.
  • Not to make family diversity feel like a lesson.
  • Not to turn any child into an example.

But to create a warmer world around them.

  • A world where different families appear naturally.
  • A world where kindness is practised.
  • A world where privacy is respected.
  • A world where children can belong without having to defend themselves.

Section 04

  • Classroom resources for PSHE, RSHE, wellbeing, anti-bullying and family diversity
  • Family guides for difficult questions, private stories and changing homes

Every resource is designed to be practical, beautiful, child-safe and easy to use.

Section 06

What we believe

1

Every family belongs

A caring family does not need to look like anyone else's family to be real, loving or worthy of respect.

2

Love makes room

Belonging grows when adults make space for different stories, different homes and different ways of being loved.

3

Private is not shameful

Children should never be pressured to explain private family stories, answer intrusive questions or defend who loves them.

4

Kindness is action

Kindness is not just a nice idea. It is something children can practise through words, choices, listening, repair and small acts of care.

5

Stories open doors

Songs, books and games can help children understand one another before fear, gossip or silence take over.

6

Children are not responsible for adult prejudice

Children should not be expected to educate adults, defend their families or carry the emotional weight of other people's discomfort.

7

Belonging is built together

Families, schools, libraries and communities all have a part to play in helping children feel safe, seen and respected.

8

Safety comes before discussion

No conversation about kindness or inclusion should place a child under pressure, shame, exposure or emotional risk.

Section 07

Our safeguarding promise

Little Lantern Family Club is built around child safety, privacy and dignity. Our resources are designed to open conversations carefully, without making any child the centre of attention.

Children should never be asked to:

  • Reveal private family information
  • Explain how their family was formed
  • Defend their parents or carers
  • Debate adults
  • Represent an identity group
  • Become campaign spokespeople
  • Upload public photos without adult approval
  • Share location or school details
  • Message strangers
  • Solve bullying alone
  • Forgive someone who is unsafe
  • Perform kindness under pressure

Our core principle:

The child's role is kindness.
The adult's role is protection.

All Little Lantern resources should allow children to pass, pause, adapt or choose a kinder third option.

Section 08

For families

Families often need simple, gentle words for complicated things. Little Lantern Family Club helps parents and carers talk with children about difference, kindness, privacy, friendship, family change and belonging.

Our family resources are designed to support:

  • Bedtime conversations
  • Weekend activities
  • Two-home transitions
  • Questions about different families
  • Gentle emotional repair
  • Family pride without pressure
  • Privacy without shame
  • Kindness at home

Section 09

For schools

Schools need resources that are inclusive, careful and easy to use. Little Lantern Family Club supports PSHE, RSHE, wellbeing, anti-bullying, digital respect, emotional literacy and family diversity.

Our classroom resources help teachers include different families naturally, without asking children to disclose personal information or speak for a whole group.

The aim is not to create debate.

The aim is to create safety, language, kindness and belonging.

Section 10

For libraries and community spaces

Libraries, family hubs and community groups are often the first places where children discover that the world is wider than their own home. Little Lantern resources can support:

  • Story sessions
  • Family activity days
  • Kindness weeks
  • Children's reading groups
  • Pride family events
  • Anti-bullying activities
  • Community displays
  • Printable take-home packs

Our materials are designed to be accessible, welcoming and easy to use in public spaces.

Section 11

A social-impact platform with a commercial engine

Little Lantern Family Club is built as both a children's resource platform and a long-term social-impact project. The goal is to create high-quality resources that can reach children through families, schools, libraries and community organisations.

The platform is designed to grow through:

  • Free starter packs
  • Family memberships
  • Teacher memberships
  • School licences
  • Library licences
  • Community partner accounts
  • Printable resource sales
  • Printed card decks
  • Books and publishing
  • Music and song catalogues
  • Donations
  • Grants
  • Crowdfunding
  • Strategic partnerships
  • Educational pilots

The long-term aim is to build a sustainable children's education, publishing, music and games platform that can keep creating free and low-cost resources for the children who need them most.

Important note: We do not promise guaranteed growth or guaranteed income. We are building a careful, scalable roadmap for social impact and commercial sustainability.

Section 12

Where the lantern begins

Little Lantern Family Club begins with a simple idea:

One small light.

Three kind acts.

A chain that keeps growing.

Our first resources include songs, articles, children's books, kindness missions and the Little Lantern Would You Rather? kindness-choice game.

The free starter pack is designed to help families, teachers, libraries and community groups begin immediately, without training, pressure or complicated preparation.

Start small.

Listen carefully.

Protect the child.

Let the light travel.

Section 13

A note from the founder

Little Lantern Family Club began from a personal belief that children should not have to fight for the dignity of their own family story.

A child should not have to explain why love counts.

A child should not have to defend the adults who care for them.

A child should not have to feel unusual because their family was formed differently.

I wanted to create a world of songs, stories, games and gentle resources where different families appear naturally, where kindness is practical, where privacy is respected, and where every child can feel that there is room for them.

Little Lantern is not about forcing children to speak.

It is about giving adults better ways to listen.

It is about making classrooms warmer, homes gentler, libraries brighter and communities more careful.

It is about passing on one small light at a time.
